Women's Volleyball Off to 2-0 Start

Windsor,ON- The St. Clair women's volleyball team opened their OCAA regular season schedule at home this weekend and came away with two convincing wins.

 

On Saturday afternoon the Saints hosted the Cambrian Golden Shield (Sudbury) and came away with a 3-0 win.

 

Set scores for St. Clair were 25-22, 25-15 and 25-15. It was a solid all around team performance with key contributions for several players. Rookie middle Keyome Ellis (Toronto; Jean Vanier Catholic) led the way with 9 kills and 1 stuff block. Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby; Sinclair Secondary) had a big game as well with 8 kills, 2 stuff blocks and 3 digs. Rookie Baylee Mailloux (Belle River; St. Anne's) also had a solid match with 5 kills, 6 service aces and 5 digs. 

 

The women's continued their OCAA regular season schedule at home on Sunday afternoon and came away with another solid 3-0 win over the College Boreal Viperes (Sudbury).

 

Set scores for St. Clair were 25-16, 25-12 and 25-10. The Saints used most of their roster throughout the match with strong contributions from many players. Rookie middle Keyome Ellis (Toronto; Jean Vanier Catholic) had a big game with 9 kills and 3 services aces. Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby; Sinclair Secondary) had a great match as well with 8 kills in 1 set played. Rookie outside hitter Chantal DeVlugt (Wyoming; LCCVI) also had a solid match with 8 kills, 3 service aces, 1 stuff block and 6 digs.

 

With the win St. Clair improved to 2-0 while Boreal dropped to 0-3.The St. Clair women are currently ranked 5th in the OCAA.

 

The Saints are next in action on Saturday, November 2 when they host the Redeemer University Royals (Ancaster) at 2 pm at the Sportsplex.
