Mountaineers beat Condors by 30 on Senior Night

In what was a night to celebrate graduating athletes, Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball emphatically defeated the Conestoga Condors 100-70.

Prior to the game the Mountaineers honoured men's soccer goalkeeper Austin Segato (Hamilton, ON), a two-time OCAA All-Academic.

Mohawk also honoured men's basketball sharpshooter Matt Foster (Burlington, ON). During his time with the Mountaineers, Foster has been named OCAA All-Academic three times and in the 2018/19 season he broke the Mohawk men's basketball program record for most three's made in a single-season with 74.

The energy from the pre-game ceremonies carried into the game as the Mountaineers outscored the Condors by double digits in each of the first two quarters to take a 28-point advantage at halftime.

Mohawk never looked back as they continued momentum in the second half en route to victory.

All 12 Mountaineers who played scored in the game. That was led by Emanuel Otong (Cambridge, ON) with 16 points and seven rebounds. Daniel Graham (Hamilton, ON) and Rommel Calura (Hamilton, ON) had 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Foster added 10, while off the bench Michael Barry (Hamilton, ON) provided 11 and Deandre Goulbourne (Toronto, ON) had 10.

Mohawk shot 48.8 per cent from the field compared to Conestoga's 33.3 per cent. The Mountaineers also outrebounded the Condors 61-42.

Heading into their final weekend of play the Mountaineers (3-4) will travel to play the St. Clair Saints on Mar. 4 at 8 p.m.
