Men’s Basketball Suffer Shooting Woes in Loss at Humber

Etobicoke, ON – In a rematch of last season's provincial and national final the St. Clair College Men's Basketball team struggled with their shooting falling 86-82 at Humber College (Etobicoke) Saturday night.  The Saints are currently ranked 10th in the country and 2nd in the province but dropped their OCAA West Division record to 3-2.

Humber moved ahead 23-21 after the opening frame but the Saints took control back with a strong second quarter for a 45-42 halftime lead.  St. Clair's offense began to cool in the third allowing Humber to move back in front where they held the advantage until midway through the fourth.  Down 77-70 the Saints mounted a 10-0 run to lead by three points with just under four minutes remaining in the game.  However, Humber was able to execute down the stretch and outlasted St. Clair for the win.  In all the very competitive game included 11 ties and 17 lead changes.

A balanced scoring attack for St. Clair saw six players reach double figures but as a team they struggled with under 28% shooting overall and a frigid 22% from beyond the arc.  St. Clair's Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) and Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON) each netted 15 points, but they cleared 8 and 9 rebounds respectively.  Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) and Shakael Pryce (Pickering, ON) both reached 12 points with Harmon recording a double-double after clearing 10 rebounds.  Hanani Ujullu (Kitchener, ON) also had a double dip with 10 points and 14 rebounds while Terence Williams (Windsor, ON) chipped in with 10 points for the Saints.

Humber's Romeo Osas Joshua (Toronto, ON) led all scorers with 21 points in the win.

The Saints finish their GTA road trip at Sheridan College (Brampton) on Sunday which tips at 3:00pm.
