Softball Rides Wave to 9 in a Row

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team swept Mohawk College (Hamilton) in a doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Mic Mac Park pushing their win streak to 9 games in a row.  The Saints handed Mohawk (5-13) a pair of mercy shortened 5-inning losses by scores of 13-2 and 10-0 which puts their OCAA regular season record at 14-6 with only 4 games remaining on their schedule.

In the opening game Rya Cowan (Lasalle, ON/Sandwich), Jordan Taylor (Lasalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) and Jenna Hillman (Windsor, ON/Tecumseh Vista) each had 3 hits apiece for St. Clair.  Cowan struck the big blow for St. Clair in the first inning with a 3-run homer which equaled Taylor's 3-RBI game.  Cowan also took the win on the mound spreading out 6 hits while giving up only 2 runs.

In the second game St. Clair pitcher Olivia Elliott (Oakville, ON) collected her 7th win of the season in only 3 innings of work giving up only 1 hit while striking out 3 Mohawk batters.  Mary O'Neil (Oldcastle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) had 3 hits and scored twice for the Saints but Cowan smashed her 3rd round tripper of the weekend as part of her 2-hit and 4 RBI game.

The Saints are next in action Tuesday night when they host Fanshawe College (London) with game times of 6:00pm and 8:00pm at Mic Mac Park on Little League Diamond #2.  These games are a rainout date rescheduled from earlier this season.
