Women’s Basketball Sweep Sault

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team defeated Sault College (Sault Ste. Marie) for the second straight day and by nearly identical margins with a 69-42 victory at the SportsPlex Sunday afternoon.  The #13 nationally ranked St. Clair Women now hold a 5-1 record in the OCAA's West Division.

The Lady Saints opened a 16-7 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back in this game.  After a 35-17 advantage at halftime St. Clair was able to spread the minutes around and grew their lead to as much as 36 points midway through the fourth quarter.  The Saints outscored Sault 58-6 in points off the bench and netted 42 points off 42 turnovers.  Neither team shot the ball particularly well in the contest as they struggled from the floor, distance and the free throw line.

Saints 3rd year guard Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON) scored a game high 23 points adding 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.  Noor Bazzi (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey), Keirsten Tomkins (Sarnia, ON) and Logan Kucera (Chatham, ON) all scored 11 points for St. Clair.  Tomkins had a nice all-around game recording 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals.  Khuloud Ahmad (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) chipped in with 10 points for the Saints.

Cassidy Sabourin (Timmins, ON), Skylar Toms (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) and Emma Filion (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) all scored 11 points for Sault in the loss.

The St. Clair Women's Basketball team head out on the road next weekend for a pair of GTA games facing Sheridan College (Brampton) on Saturday and Humber College (Etobicoke) on Sunday.
