The Mountaineers women's basketball team lost their final regular season game 72-58 to the Lambton Lions.

Mohawk looked like a more cohesive unit versus the Lions than they did when the two teams met in preseason, where Lambton won by 22.

The Mountaineers trailed by single digits for most of the first half, but managed to climb back and tie the game in the third quarter.

It was turnovers that were ultimately the difference in this one as the Lions scored 25 points off of 26 Mountaineer turnovers.

Celina Chung (Oakville, ON) continued to put up big numbers with another double-double consisting of 18 points and 15 rebounds. Tianna Stys (St. Catharines, ON) was also impressive again with eight points and 14 rebounds, and Rachel Guanzon (Guelph, ON) also contributed 13 points, five rebounds and two steals.

With the loss, Mohawk finishes the year with a 3-5 record and will be the fifth seed in the OCAA West Division going into playoffs.

The Mountaineers will play their OCAA quarterfinal at home on Mar. 9. Details are still to be determined.
