The No. 14-ranked Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball team have begun the season with three consecutive wins after they defeated the Niagara Knights 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-21).

"Going three for three on the road with three consecutive sweeps is a great way to start the season," head coach Brad McClure said. "The guys lost it a little bit from an execution standpoint, but I felt they really showed a lot of mental awareness and toughness in grinding out today's win."

Nathan Snippe (St. Ann's, ON) led the Mountaineers with 10 kills in three sets. Michael Kong (Burlington, ON) also put on a good performance with seven kills.

"Michael Kong was our stabilizer tonight and provided a ton of support for our athletes," McClure said. The coach also highlighted Joel Sloots (Hamilton, ON), who had five kills.

McClure says that the team will look to continue to refine their passing and getting the ball into their setters hands to run an effective offence heading into Saturday's home opener.

The Mountaineers (3-0) will host the No. 2-ranked Humber Hawks (3-0) on Feb. 19 at 3 p.m.

At this time, no spectators will be allowed for all Mountaineer home games. Every game will be streamed on OCAA Live.
