Baseball Suffers Home Loss to Durham

Tecumseh, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team suffered a 5-0 loss to Durham College (Oshawa) Sunday afternoon at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh.  This drops their OCAA regular season record to 7-4 and puts the Saints in a tie for 2nd place in the standings.  Durham pulled their record to 6-6 and leaves them alone in 4th place.

The game was moved an hour earlier to avoid possible rain but the contest still suffered a brief delay.  A ten minute break allowed some field work by the grounds crew making conditions firm enough to complete the game.  Saints starter Luis Barrios (Cali, Colombia) was charged with the loss after giving up 3 runs in the 4th inning but also 5 hits over his 4 IP serving up a pair of walks and a hit batsmen.  Barrios gave way to Micah Harris (Cottam, ON/Essex District) but he could not stem the tide giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and walk in the 5th inning.  Emilio Valdes (Miami, FL) worked the final two scoreless innings for St. Clair with a pair of hits and strikeouts.  Aiden Pitre (Lakeshore, ON/L'Essor) led the Saints offensively with a pair of hits including a double at the plate.

The St. Clair Baseball team is next in action when they host the University of Windsor in an exhibition at Lacasse Park on Wednesday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:00pm.
