An offensive outburst in the first half lifted the Mohawk Mountaineers to an 80-55 win over the Redeemer Royals.

The Mountaineers scored 57-points in the first half on 51.2 per cent shooting. It was easily Mohawk's best performance in a half this season as they went into halftime with a 30-point lead.

Rachel Guanzon (Guelph, ON) nearly scored 30-points for the second time in three games, finishing with a game-high 29 points on six-of-nine from three. Tia Stys (St. Catharines, ON) got her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Kayla Vanbeek (Binbrook, ON) also stood out with 12 points off the bench for Mohawk.

Despite a 4-11 record, the Mountaineers have shown an explosive offense at times.

With one game remaining on the schedule, a win for Mohawk will move them one spot up in the OCAA West for the seventh seed.

The Mountaineers will closeout the season hosting the St. Clair Saints on Feb. 18 at 4 p.m.
