LANCERS SHUT DOWN HUSKIES

LANCERS SHUT DOWN HUSKIES

The Lancers added another win to their season with a commanding 70-50 victory over the George Brown Huskies.

After a solid start that saw the home team up by 5, the Huskies game running back with an 17-point run to take the lead mid-way through the first. The Lancers came back with 7 unanswered buckets of their own thanks to much improved defence and a solid press.

In their best quarter of the game, the Lancers held the Huskies to 4 points in the second to widen the gap to 13 at the half.

The Huskies upped their intensity at both ends of the court in the final 10 minutes but it wasn't enough to break through the home team's press or slow their momentum. With impressive ball movement, unselfish play and cohesive teamwork, the Lancers cruised to their second victory of the season and improved their record to 2-2

First year Lancers Kate Maxwell and Grace Callahan both recorded double-doubles in the victory. Maxwell contributed 10 points and 14 rebounds for her first career double double while Callahan came off the bench for 11 points and 13 rebounds for her second of the season.  Cianah Miller and Vanessa Wilton led the team in scoring with 15 points each and a combined 5 steals and 9 rebounds.

The Lancers are back at it Saturday in their second matchup of the weekend when they take on the Centennial Colts at 1 PM on Saturday.
