Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team took pair of wins from Lambton College (Sarnia) at the SportsPark Wednesday night moving their record to 7-3. The Saints notched convincing victories of 9-2 and 11-2 in the doubleheader sweep.
St. Clair used a 6-run 2nd inning in game one to take a commanding lead until Lambton scored two runs in the 6th. The Saints then tacked on three runs in the bottom half to complete the scoring. St. Clair starter Kirsten Kipfer (Mitchell, ON) earned her first win of the season giving up only an earned run on 5 hits but struck out 5 over six innings of work. Reese Grondin (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova), Judy Lafleur (Essex, ON/Essex) and Zahnyah Jackson (Brampton, ON) each had two hits in the game to help the Saints offensively.
Game two saw Lambton jump ahead 1-0 until St. Clair scored 7 runs in the 3rd inning. The Saints added a single run in the 4th and the teams traded a run in the 5th before a 2-run 6th by St. Clair created the final differential. Lafleur had four more hits in the nightcap along with two RBI to put a bow on her evening. Grondin had a 3-run homerun while Ada Umerah (Maple, ON) chipped in with two singles for the Saints. Danna Juarez (Airdrie, AB) pitched her way to a 4th win of the season for St. Clair giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits and a walk but struck out 7 batters over 5 innings.
