Saints Best Sheridan Sunday in Men’s Basketball

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team ran their West Division record to 9-3 with a 101-81 win over Sheridan College (Brampton) Sunday afternoon at the SportsPlex. 

Sheridan was the aggressor early and went ahead 27-17 after the opening quarter but the Saints turned it around quickly in the second to only trail 42-41 by the halftime intermission.  St. Clair methodically picked apart the visitors with high percentage makes (68.4% overall shooting) in third quarter for a 76-64 advantage heading to the final frame.  The Saints increased their lead down the stretch and were able to coast to the victory. 

St. Clair only surrendered 10 turnovers in the game while forcing Sheridan into 23 enabling 33 points in reply.  The Saints enjoyed the key with 58 of their points in close while shooting 48.8% overall to just 40% for Sheridan.  St. Clair also used their deeper roster to win the reserve war 47-19.

Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) was a big part of the bench brigade leading the Saints with 19 points to go with 5 rebounds.  Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) had a fine game scoring 17 points adding 6 rebounds for St. Clair.  Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON) and Shakael Pryce (Pickering, ON) each netted 13 points for the Saints with the latter recording a double-double after dishing out 11 assists.  Glynn Willis-Paris (Detroit, MI/Kennedy) chipped in with 10 points off the bench to finish off five Saints in double figures. 

The St. Clair Men go on the road next weekend to face Canadore College (North Bay) on Sunday at 1:00pm.
