The Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball team ended their two game losing streak following a 110-87 win over the No. 15-ranked Sheridan Bruins.

Daniel Graham (Hamilton, ON) led the charge for the Mountaineers by posting his first career double-double with 17 points and 12 assists. The second-year guard leads the OCAA at eight assists per game.

Mountaineers head coach, Brian Jonker, said his squad showed what they are capable of against Sheridan.

"We moved the ball well today," Jonker said. "If we share the ball like that, we're a good shooting team and when we get open shots, we make shots."

Mohawk had 34 assists on 43 made field goals and knocked down 19 three's.

After trailing 27-19 in the first quarter, the Mountaineers scored at least 30 points in each of the next three quarters and shot 52.4 per cent from the field for the game.

"We desperately needed that," Jonker said. "Our division is so difficult, there's no gimmies. I think we have the talent where a win like this could snowball here and turn into a really good thing."

Graham had four teammates join him with double digit scoring, while 10 Mountaineers recorded at least a point in the game.

Rommel Calura (Hamilton, ON) provided 19 points, seven assists, four rebounds and three steals. Emanuel Otong (Cambridge, ON) continues to be a welcomed back addition for the Mountaineers, adding 19 points, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Deandre Goulbounre (Toronto, ON) came off the bench to provide 18 points and seven rebounds, and Matt Foster (Burlington, ON) scored 15 points on five three's and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Mountaineers will be back in the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre for their next game on Feb. 20 versus the Niagara Knights at 3 p.m.

As of right now, no spectators will be allowed for all Mountaineer home games. All games will be streamed on OCAA Live.
