Women's volleyball comes up short in trip to Humber

REXDALE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (16-9, 9-7 OCAA) put forward a valiant effort, but came up short in a 3-0 loss to Humber.

"We tried to be more aggressive today and put some pressure on Humber," head coach Scott Hunt said. "Unfortunately we were still too tentative at certain moments in the first couple sets. The third set we played with a better mindset which allowed us to stay close and that set could have gone either way at the end."

Humber pulled away in each of the first two sets, taking a 2-0 lead after 25-16 and 25-18 wins.

The more aggressive approach certainly paid off in the third for the Bruins, though they still couldn't get over the hump, falling 25-23.

Taylor Ley scored a team-high 11 points (eight kills, two aces, one block), marking her sixth straight match in which she was in double figures.

The Bruins will close out the regular season with a weekend trip to Sudbury for matches against Cambrian (6-10) on Feb. 10 and Boreal (0-16) on Feb. 11.
