Niagara Moves to 8-4 with 3-0 Sweep of Condors

January 23 2020...WELLAND - The Niagara College Women's Volleyball team handed the struggling Conestoga Condors (2-10) a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-22) loss last night in Kitchener. Coming off a big home win last Thursday against Mohawk, the Knights carried their momentum over to the sweep of the Condors, who have struggled to find a win since November 10th 2019.

Niagara was led by first year Kristen Oudman (Wainfleet) with 12 points, followed by Natasha Desjardins (3rd year, Welland) and Tamara Edwards (3rd year, Vineland) with seven. Dejardins was also named an OCAA Star of the Week and CCAA Athlete of the Week for January 20-24.

" Overall I'm happy with the result that we had tonight. It's never easy to go into someone else's gym and win three straight," said head coach Steve Dow.

The Knights are now on a two game win streak as they head into a weeklong break before facing Humber (10-2) January 30th at home. Niagara's 8-4 record pegs them at fourth in the OCAA West with just six games remaining of the regular season.

"With that being said I thought we came out a little flat, and we're missing a killer instinct. We still need to continue to focus on doing a little things right for longer stretches of time if we want to be able to be talked about with the best teams in the league. First year left side Kristen Oudmen had another strong performance leading the team in both kills in points, continuing to show why she deserves to be on the all rookie team. We have a big week coming up for us against Humber and Fanshawe. It will be a good test for us as we gear up for playoffs."
