Softball Grinds out Positive Weekend

Kitchener/Etobicoke/Oshawa, ON – Faced with the tall task of 6 road games in 3 days the St. Clair College Women's Softball team went 4-2 this past weekend after stops in Kitchener, Etobicoke and Oshawa against the top teams in the OCAA.  Friday night the Saints split with Conestoga College at Kitchener's Budd Park with a 2-0 loss and a 4-1 win.  Saturday night in Etobicoke at Connorvale Park St. Clair lost 10-0 to Humber College but rebounded nicely with a resounding 5-2 victory over the top team in the province.  But their best work came Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep at Durham College in Oshawa with tight 5-4 and 2-1 wins.  The Saints now sport an 8-6 record and stand 3rd in the OCAA standings.

Friday night St. Clair's Olivia Elliott (Oakville, ON) was the winner on the mound throwing a complete game 3-hitter allowing no earned runs while striking out 10 Conestoga batters.  Mary O'Neil (Oldcastle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) and Lauryn Schram (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph's) each had a hit and an RBI in the win for the Saints. 

Elliott collected her 2nd win of the weekend Saturday night with another complete game while fanning 10 Humber batters and only surrendered 6 hits.  Schram, Rya Cowan (Lasalle, ON/Sandwich) and Jenna Hillman (Windsor, ON/Tecumseh Vista) all had a 2 hits and an RBI in the game for St. Clair. 

On Sunday Elliott notched her 3rd win of the weekend with 2 innings of relief work in the opener and Hannah Desrosiers (Windsor, ON/Kennedy Collegiate) threw a complete game in the second contest allowing no earned runs on just 4 hits for the St. Clair win.  Cowan had 4 hits total in the doubleheader Sunday to lead the Saints offensively.  

The Saints get back on the road with a doubleheader Wednesday night at London's Stronach Park against Fanshawe College.
