Mohawk Mountaineers men's soccer hosted the Redeemer Royals at Tim Hortons Field for their 2022 home opener and third game of the season. The Mountaineers struggled defensively, losing the match 5-0.

It wasn't the start Mohawk was hoping for in the first half, falling behind 4-0.

"We started too slow," said Mountaineers head coach Jordan Brown. "We didn't do a lot of stuff that we are supposed to do throughout the first half."

There was more life to Mohawk in the second half, but the Royals added to their lead late in the game.

"In the second half we came out with a different attitude," Brown said. "There was a reaction at halftime, which is what we wanted."

The Mountaineers will now get a week of rest before they head to play the Humber Hawks on Sept. 21, with match beginning at 4:30 p.m.
