Big night for Humber trio in win over Seneca

ETOBICOKE — No. 4 Humber women's basketball picked up their fifth win on the season, defeating the Seneca Sting (0-4, 8th East) Wednesday evening at the North Campus Gym, 91-41.

Shorthanded Humber leaned on the trio of Miea Campbell-Johnson, Kia Watt, and Brittney English to carry the offensive load as they combined for 84 points in the victory.

Miea Campbell-Johnson continued to make her case as the best player in the conference, recording her first career triple-double. The Brampton native stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 20 points, 25 rebounds, 10 blocks, five steals and one assist in the win.

In what was clearly the theme on the night, Brittney English and Kia Watt both finished with career-highs in scoring in the win. English led the way finishing with 33 points, knocking down a career-high six threes to go along with nine rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and two steals. Watt finished right behind her, recording 31 points, six rebounds, six steals, four assists, and a block.

The Hawks had one of their best opening quarters of the season as they took it to the Sting on the offensive end. Humber put up 29 points in first on 10-of-22 (45.5 per cent) shooting from the floor.

The Hawks held the Sting to just three points on one-of-16 (6.3 per cent) shooting from the floor and took a 17-point lead into the break.

Despite being shorthanded, Humber was even better in the second half as they outscored Seneca 51-18 over the final two quarters taking this one convincingly by a score of, 91-41.
