Colts Clash, Phoenix Fall

By: Pedro Casellatto

Peterborough, ON - The Centennial Men's Volleyball Team worked hard and came home with another win. With a consistent game, they dominated and closed the match in three sets, defeating the Fleming Phoenix on their home soil. The communication and organization helped the Colts run an aggressive offence.

The Colts controlled the game well. With very few mistakes and great plays, they closed the first set with a comfortable gap on the scoreboard. The setter, Michael Matsuto, did a great job spreading his offence, leaving his hitters with a single block most of the time. The outside hitters, Pedro Casellatto and Gianluca Righetto, took the opportunity to lead the Colts throughout the first set. In the second set, Nikolas Moser showed personality and became another strong option for the Colts' offence.

In the third set, the Phoenix picked up and led the score for most of the time. However, the Colts were right behind all the time, and in the last five points, they had a great serving run, getting the Phoenix out of system, playing a very aggressive counterattack, and closing the game in three straight sets.

It was a good game, and the Colts were able to stay in control for most of the game. Now, they focus on the next opponent, the Georgian Grizzlies. The Colts are hosting this Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in a game that most likely will define who will lead the standings going forward.
