Twelve Straight Wins for No. 11 Men's Basketball

ETOBICOKE — No. 11 Humber men's basketball extended its winning streak to twelve straight games, cruising by the Niagara Knights (4-10, 9th West), 105-97, Thursday evening, at the North Campus Gym.

Once again it was Jaylan Morgan who led the Humber offence on the night. Morgan finished with 26 points, four rebounds, one steal and a block in the win.

DeQuon Cascart was equally good on the night, as he finished with 22 points, four rebounds, three steals, one assist and one block, in just 17-minutes of action.

Both teams came out strong in the opening quarter, as Niagara matched Humber on the offensive end.  Each team made over half their attempts in the quarter, with Humber edging out the Knights going 11-of-20 (55.0 percent) in the first, as they took a one-point lead into the second.

Humber took control in the second with a 16-5 run early in the quarter as their offence caught fire. The Hawks poured it on from there, finishing with 33 points in the second coming on 12-26 (46.2 percent) shooting in the frame. The trio of Keith Laryea, Jaylan Morgan, and DeQuon Cascart did the bulk of the damage for Humber in the quarter, combining to score 24 points as their side took an 18-point lead into the half.

The two sides went back to trading baskets in the third, as they each finished with 26 points in the quarter. The Knights could do nothing to stop Cascart in the third as he put up seven points while going a perfect 3-of-3 in the quarter.

Despite playing two even quarters with the Knights, Humber started the fourth up by a healthy 18 points as its half-time lead stood. That deficit would prove to be too great, as despite Niagara outscoring Humber 30-20 in the final quarter they fell to the Hawks, 105-97.
