Sting Drop Home Opener to Lords

The Seneca Sting Softball team dropped their home opener of the 2016 season against the Durham Lords 19-0.

The Lords jumped out to a 2-0 after the first inning and never looked back against a young Sting squad.

Sting pitcher Brianna Bader battled on the mound, but the Lords offense was too strong, adding five runs in the second and four in the fourth to take an 11-0 lead.

Following an eight run inning in the fifth, the Lords completed the scoring in the first of two games on opening day.

Bader collected the lone Sting hit off Lords pitcher Ashley Black, who picked up the win.

Bader reached base in each of her two at-bats, reaching in the first inning on an error before a fourth inning single.

Sabrina Stalteri paced the Lords, reaching base in each of her five at-bats thanks to a pair of singles, walk, hit-by-pitch and a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Stalteri also added five runs scored.

The Sting and Lords will complete their double header later in the afternoon.
