Season Preview: 2021 Humber Women’s Soccer

Head coach Mauro Ongaro and the Humber Hawks will be in pursuit of their eighth provincial title – first since 2012


The Humber women's soccer program returns for its 25th season, kicking off the 2021 season on the road at George Brown College on Sept. 17. Kick-off is set for 6:30 p.m.

2019 Highlights
  • The Hawks captured their fourth straight OCAA medal, defeating Sheridan 2-0 to capture the OCAA bronze medal.
  • Humber concluded the regular season with a win percentage of .700 or higher for the 14th consecutive season.
  • Humber's top CCAA ranking was number 11.
  • The Hawks were one win shy of tying the program record of 21 consecutive regular-season victories from 2001.
At the Helm

Mauro Ongaro returns for his 25th season as head coach, with an all-time record of 222-51-29 (.783). Humber Hall of Famer Marcelo Capozzolo will join returning assistant coaches Jose Caro and Kat Conde on Coach Ongaro's 2021 staff.

Pushing Forward

The Hawks will return three of four all-stars from last season, including Dominika Philip, Giulia Zanardi, and 2019 Humber Rookie of the Year Catarina Medeiros.

All-time List

Giulia Zanardi enters her senior season fourth all-time in scoring at Humber with 34 career tallies. Rebecca Spratt sits seventh with 24 goals in her final year of eligibility.

Brick Wall

Goalkeeper Vanessa Fiore will be back for her final season in the net with a career regular-season record of 29-1-4. In 35 career starts, the Brampton native has only surrendered 14 goals, while recording 23 clean sheets. Her eight OCAA postseason clean sheets are the most in program history.

Oh Canada

The 2021 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championship will be hosted by Humber College. The eight-team tournament will be held at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan, from Nov. 10 to 11.
