No. 4 Women's Soccer sweeps weekend matches

SARNIA – No. 4 Humber women's soccer (3-0-0, 1st West) finished its southwest trip, picking up six points with victories over St. Clair (0-2-0, 9th West) and Lambton (0-2-1, 8th West). Rookie Chantel Spalla had the scoring touch over the weekend, recording three tallies in the two matches.

Humber at St. Clair, W 4-0

After a dominant first half that saw the Hawks record 12 shots on net, Humber and St. Clair were both scoreless after 45 minutes of play.

Catarina Medeiros finally got the Hawks on the board in the 53rd minute when Kaitlynn Russell found her at the top of the box, unloading a rocket into the top corner of the net for her first of the season.

The flood gates opened from there when a quick pass from Emma Genova found Kaitlynn Russell for her third goal of the year two minutes later.

In the 79th minute, Genova made another great pass, this time finding Spalla for her first career goal.

With time running down, Rose Policelli hit a long cross into the box, finding the head of Krystina Carvalho for Humber's fourth tally of the match.

In her second career start, Isabella Bernardi recorded her first career clean sheet.

Kaitlynn Russell recorded her fourth goal of the season in the second-half, as the Hawks cruised from there for their third win of the season.

Isabella Fiorini earned the clean sheet in the win, recording her second career victory.
