Sting Struck Down by Thunder

The Seneca Sting (2-2) dropped to .500 on the young season following a three-set sweep against the Algonquin Thunder (4-1).

The Thunder dominated two of the three sets, winning 25-21, 27-25, 25-15.

The closely contested second set saw the Sting lead 21-17 at one point and even had two set-points to even the match. The Thunder battled back from a 24-22 deficit and trailed again 25-24 before capturing the set's final three points.

Nicole Boyd and Amy Sayaveth each finished with 10 kills for the Sting. Crystalyn O'Donnell had a pair of aces and a team-leading 15 digs. Sayaveth also contributed 10 digs. Libero Victoria Wensley added 9 digs. Genevieve Potovszky had 27 assists. The Sting missed 11 serves in the match while committing 19 attack errors.

Breanne Scheerhorn topped the Thunder with 11 kills to go along with 5 digs. Rylee Leger added 10 kills. Katie Sands added a pair of aces to go with her 6 digs. Sarah Aubin had a team-high 10 digs while Erin Roots finished with 8 digs. Michaela Harkin had a match-high 4 blocks.
