Colts Defeat Lords

Colts Defeat Lords

By: Pedro Casellatto

Oshawa, ON - In Oshawa, the Centennial Men's Volleyball team (7-2) added another win to the record after defeating the Durham Lords (4-5) in four sets. After winning two with certain comfort, the Colts saw a reaction by the Lords, but with a flawless fourth set, they were able to close the match.

The game was balanced, and both teams were playing consistently. During the first and second sets, the Colts' defensive system and serving made the difference, which had not happened as effectively in the previous games. Against the Lords, the Colts challenged the attack, making the Lords need two or three attempts to score one point most of the time. Zachary Orat and Pedro Casellatto, with nine and ten digs respectively, gave the Lords a hard time. With strong reception, the side-out was fluid throughout the first half of the game.

However, in the second set, the Lords' tall blockers came out more aggressive and started to slow down the Colts' offence. The left-side hitters, Tyler Jegen and William Eagan, took advantage of that and led the Lords to the victory in the third set. In the fourth set, the Colts matched the intensity of the attack and Lionnis Salazar finished the game with 19 kills and 24 points.

With another win and based on other results, the Colts are now sitting in second place. They now have two games at home to close the first semester, the first one being against the Loyalist Lancers, Next Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
