2009-10 OCAA FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR - RENEE YIP

Renee Yip, a first-year badminton player from Markham, Ont., had a season that was unparalleled. Yip took the province and the nation by storm, winning both the OCAA championship for mixed doubles and parlaying that success into national championship gold. She was also instrumental in leading the Humber Hawks team to numerous team championships.

She partnered up with the 2008 OCAA men's player of the year Raymond Wong to win Ontario's first CCAA national championship since 2004. Her exploits went beyond the realm of mixed doubles competition as she also went undefeated in women's singles events throughout the province in tournament play.

"We are so very proud of her," noted Humber head coach Lam Trinh. "It is awesome that she has accomplished so much, so early in her badminton career at Humber."

Renee was also honoured as an academic all-Canadian and is currently completing her first year of study in the fitness and health promotion program.
