The rookie from Simcoe did it all this week, powering the Lions to a perfect 3-0 run and a 5-0 start to the season. Jeryn Shortt announced his arrival in style on the road against the defending champion St. Clair Saints, tossing a one-hitter in his first career OCAA start and striking out 11 in a 4-0 victory. Over the weekend, Jeryn showcased his two-way talent again, blasting a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning against Humber before taking the mound in the seventh to lock down the save in an 8-7 win. On Sunday, Jeryn stayed hot at the plate, crushing his second home run in as many days to help lift the Lions past Durham, 6-1. For the week, Jeryn fanned 12 batters and posted a flawless 0.00 ERA, while hitting .364 with two home runs, five RBIs and four runs scored.
