Robert McAskill was a key contributer in Cambrian's back-to-back OCAA championship teams in the mid-1990s.

McAskill was second in team scoring during the 1995-96 regular season, scoring 14 goals and assisting on 17 others. Robert was named MVP at the OCAA championship as Cambrian won the OCAA gold medal. He went on to be named a CCAA tournament all-star as the Golden Shield finished second at nationals.

McAskill was the top scorer on the Golden Shield the following season with 11 goals and 27 assists. Robert took both league and tournament all-star honours as Cambrian repeated as OCAA champions. The Golden Shield went on to win their first and only national championship. McAskill was named Team MVP and Cambrian's Male Athlete of the Year.

McAskill is a member of the OCAA Men's Hockey All-Millennium team.
