Heidi Bench competed for two seasons as a member of the Niagara College women's volleyball program. During the 2006-07 season, Heidi helped lead Niagara to an 11-4 record and an OCAA west regional title.

In the power position, she elevated her game to capture two consecutive OCAA west regional scoring titles, a first in Niagara history. She accumulated a total of 453 points in her two years with Niagara.

Heidi was a two-time OCAA first-team all-star, two-time OCAA all-academic recipient, two-time CCAA academic all-Canadian recipient, two-time member of the Niagara College president's honour roll, and twice received Niagara College's female athlete of the year award.

In 2007, Heidi graduated from the Niagara College environmental technician program with president's honours. She went on to have a very successful OUA career with McMaster University where she helped lead the Marauders to OUA gold and silver medals in the 2008 and 2009.
