During her time at Centennial College, Sue Brown was greatly involved in the development of the men's and women's volleyball programs at both the provincial and national level. She served as CCAA women's volleyball convenor from 1979-80 to 1981-82 and as OCAA Tier I Convenor during the 1985-86 season.

Brown was well known in volleyball circles for helping organize the first NCCP Level 1 technical course for volleyball coaches and for running player development clinics for college players, using athletes from Canada's national team. She also initiated the first high school scholarship game which raised money for scholarships and was the precursor to today's OCAA scholarship policy.

In May 1990, Sue Brown was recognized by the OCAA for her contributions when she was presented with a Shield Award.
