In 1999, Seneca persuaded then Humber assistant coach Vito Colangelo to head its men's soccer program. In his 15 years with the Sting, Vito's superior tactical and technical knowledge and experience led Seneca to six East Division league titles, four OCAA silver and three bronze medals, and one OCAA championship.

Vito coached Seneca in three appearances at the CCAA championship, earning a CCAA silver medal, and followed this up by the unlikely and exciting win in 2009 when Seneca, from the host sixth seed, won the national title.

Vito was twice named East Division Coach of the Year and twice earned the CCAA Coach of the Year honour. As a result of Vito's vision of providing a year-long opportunity for players to develop, Seneca began its indoor soccer program, where the Sting earned an OCAA gold medal, three silvers and one bronze.

Vito then turned his attention to the Seneca women's soccer program. Always seeming to be on the cusp of success, Vito took command of the women's team in 2010. Vito's impressive league record for the women was 24-4-4, which led the team from the cusp of victory, to success with an OCAA silver medal and an East Division league championship. He also achieved great success with the women's indoor program, earning two OCAA silver medals and a provincial championship.

Vito was inducted into the Seneca Sport Hall of Fame as a Coach of Excellence in April 2014
Vito's outstanding success with two OCAA programs puts him in an elite category and one worthy of induction into the OCAA Hall of Fame.
