George Copeland played three seasons with the St. Clair College men's basketball program from 1981 to 1984, graduating from the business administration data processing program.

He was second in team scoring each season he played. George scored 1,676 career points, including 1,033 in OCAA competition, putting him sixth all-time in St. Clair history. He was voted an OCAA all-star three times and named the St. Clair team MVP in his final two seasons. St. Clair had an OCAA record of 39 wins and 25 losses with Copeland as a member of the program.

His top season statistically came in his final campaign of 1983-84 when he averaged 18.5 points per game, scoring 443 points.For his efforts, George was named student-athlete of the year at St. Clair College and was quickly inducted into St. Clair's hall of fame after graduation.
