ERIC FAGEN

ERIC FAGEN

Category: Builder
Institution: OCAA Central Office
Inducted: 2003

As the OCAA's second Executive Director, Eric Fagen was instrumental during his 10-year tenure in not only streamlining many of the organization's administrative functions, but also in introducing several innovative communications and marketing programs.

Beginning in 1977, he simplified the administrative process for member colleges involved in OCAA sports by centralizing the collection of player declaration lists, team rosters and game score sheets. He further simplified processes when he helped the organization become the first sports governing body to integrate microcomputer technology into its operation, enabling the OCAA to be recognized as being a leader among amateur sports organizations.

As a former journalist, Fagen increased the OCAA's media profile through the introduction of a weekly newsletter and the production of an annual media guide and directory. The advertising and sponsorship revenue generated by these two publications were part of several other fundraising programs he initiated including bingo events, all-star games, exhibitor nights and aerobathons.
