Institution: Loyalist College
Greg Gavin was a main contributor to the Loyalist College athletic program serving 32 of his 34 years as Athletic Director.
Known for always stressing academics first, Loyalist became one of the first schools with a strict academic policy for their student athletes. Gavin sat on the OCAA Executive Committee from 1979-81 in the role of Treasurer and was a Convenor for men and women's volleyball.
Gavin had a vision to build a small college into a well-known and esteemed institution on the national and provincial level. Under his direction he built one of the strongest volleyball programs in the country. From 1986 to 2003 the men's volleyball team won seven Ontario titles and brought home three medals from the national championship.
In 2003 Gavin was recognized by the College and Student Government as he was awarded the Student Life Award. He was inducted into the City of Bellville's Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and was previously a nominee for the CCAA Athletic Director of the Year.
