As a hitter for the Seneca College women's volleyball team, Yvette Gordon was known as one of the top players in the OCAA during her two years of competition.

Gordon was MVP of the OCAA championship when Seneca won the gold medal in 1983-84, her first season in the league. In both of her years with Seneca she was a league all-star, and in 1984-85 she was named to the championship all-star team.

Seneca honoured Gordon with the Outstanding Team Contribution award in 1983-84, and in 1985 she was inducted into the Seneca Hall of Fame. In 2000, she was named to the OCAA Women's Volleyball All-Millennium team.
