Playing defence for Seneca College during the 1986-87 season, Geraldine Heaney finished second in league scoring with 13 goals and 24 assists for 37 points in just 12 games.

Seneca dominated the league that season, going 12-0 and scoring 113 goals while allowing just 10. The Scouts, as they were known then, went on to win the OCAA championship, with Heaney being named to the league and championship all-star teams.

Following her days at Seneca, Geraldine went on to an exceptional hockey career for Canada on the international scene. She was the first woman to play in and win seven consecutive world championships. At the 1992 and 1994 World Championships she received the Directorate Award as the top defenceman.

Heaney and her Team Canada teammates won the silver medal at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, and then brought home the gold medal from the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City, after which Heaney retired from the national team.

Geraldine is a member of the OCAA Women's Hockey All-Millennium team. Heaney was given her highest honour in the sport in 2013, becoming only the third women's hockey player named to the Hockey Hall of Fame, joining Angela James and Cammi Granato.
