Tom McClelland of Northern College was a staple in OCAA men's hockey for 22 years.

Starting in the 1972-73 season, McClelland was either the Senior Convenor, consultant, or Tier I Convenor up to and including the 1993-94 season.

McClelland was well known throughout the OCAA for his passion and dedication to the men's hockey program.

In 1983, Tom McClelland became the first person to be honoured by the OCAA with the presentation of a Shield Award.
