A member of the Humber Hawks men's basketball team for four seasons, George McNeil was named an OCAA all-star and a CCAA All-Canadian in 1986-87 and 1987-88.

In his final year at Humber, McNeil and the Hawks won the OCAA championship and then earned a silver medal at the nationals. That same year, he was selected as Humber's Male Athlete of the Year.

Over his career, McNeil amassed 1,148 points, good for ninth place all-time at the time of his induction. At Humber, McNeil was inducted into their Hall of Fame, and has had his jersey number retired.

In 2000, he was named to the OCAA Men's Basketball All-Millennium team.
