OCAA HONOURS ITS TOP BADMINTON STUDENT-ATHLETES

TORONTO - Dhruv Raval and Sherry Wu of Humber Polytechnic are the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Badminton Players of the Year.

Raval (India), a second-year student-athlete, finished in first or second place at almost all the OCAA invitational tournaments this past season playing both singles and doubles. Raval is the reigning OCAA silver medalist in men's doubles, showcasing tremendous sportsmanship on and off the court.

Wu (Ottawa), a first-year student-athlete, has had an exceptional debut on the OCAA circuit having only lost one match all season. A triple crown winner at both the Humber and Centennial College tournaments, Wu was also a double winner at Conestoga College. Wu is a constant motivator and a good influence to teammates.

Howard Wong of George Brown College is the OCAA Coach of the Year. The first-year head coach was challenged to rebuild a roster with numerous student-athletes leaving. Under Wong's guidance, the Huskies have put together a great roster with a ton of depth. Wong's philosophy revolves around positivity and mastering the fundamentals. The Huskies are in a good spot to compete for a medal in all disciplines at the upcoming provincials.

All-Stars will be determined following the OCAA Badminton Championships being hosted by Conestoga from Feb. 14-15.
