TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Mar. 16.

Student-athletes are nominated by their respective athletic departments.
Adrian Aluyi
School: Humber
Program: Massage Therapy
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Basketball
Hometown: Toronto
Aluyi was named a Championship First-Team All-Star at nationals in Quebec. The third-year small forward was named Player of the Game in Humber's 76-70 win over the OCAA champion Durham Lords. Aluyi had a monster performance with a game-high 31 points and a dozen rebounds for a memorable double-double, avenging Humber's provincial loss to Durham earlier this month. Overall Aluyi averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals over Humber's three victories. The Hawks won their second national crown in four seasons.
Maddie Anderson
School: Mohawk
Program: Massage Therapy
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Basketball
Hometown: Whitby, Ont.
Anderson was bestowed the Exemplary Leadership Award, formerly known as the Fair Play Award, at nationals in Fredericton. This honour recognizes a student-athlete who demonstrates leadership both on and off the court, emphasizing sportsmanship and fair play. Anderson played the full 40 minutes in each of Mohawk's three games, averaging 8.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. The Mountaineers fell one victory short of playing for a national medal, but had a memorable start with a 62-57 win over VIU on Mar. 12.
Jasean Elliott
School: Durham
Program: General Arts & Science
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Basketball
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Elliott was named a Championship Second-Team All-Star at nationals in Saint-Laurent, Que. The second-year guard averaged 8.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals averaging 19.7 minutes in three games. Elliott provided a spark for the Durham Lords in the gold medal game on Mar. 15, scoring 15 points on 6-of-11 (54.5 per cent) shooting while adding five rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 76-70 loss to their OCAA-rival Humber Hawks. The Lords had their best finish on the national stage since winning it all in 1997.
Malik Grant
School: Humber
Program: Recreation & Leisure
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Basketball
Hometown: Brampton, Ont.
Grant was named Championship MVP at nationals as the Humber Hawks won their eighth overall Canadian championship. Over three games, the fourth-year small forward averaged 16.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 31.3 minutes of action. Grant topped all players at the competition shooting 47.1 per cent (8-of-17) beyond the three-point arc. The All-Canadian was named Player of the Game in Humber's comeback 69-63 semi-final victory over host Vanier on Mar. 13, scoring a team-high 17 points, including nine in the final quarter.
Miles Hall
School: Durham
Program: General Arts & Science

Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Hall was named a Championship First-Team All-Star at nationals on Island of Montreal. The fourth-year guard averaged 15.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals in three games, averaging 30.7 minutes of action. Hall was Durham's co-leader with 17 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists in the gold medal game, a 76-70 defeat at the hands of OCAA-rival Humber. Overall, Hall and the Durham Lords went 2-1 at the competition to bring home a national silver medal to go along with their provincial gold won earlier in the month.
Angong Jacob
School: Mohawk
Program: Social Service Worker
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Basketball
Hometown: Calgary, Alta.
Jacob was named a Championship Second-Team All-Star at nationals as the OCAA champion Mohawk Mountaineers went 1-2 in New Brunswick. The third-year guard averaged 19.7 points (second-best among all players), 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals and was on the court for 117 of a possible 120 minutes. Jacob was twice named Player of the Game, scoring a game-high 26 points in an opening 62-57 victory over VIU on Mar. 12, followed by a team-high 18 points in Mohawk's 81-59 loss to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu on Mar. 14.
