OCAA STARS OF THE WEEK
TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Oct. 21.

Student-athletes are nominated by their respective athletic departments.
Luke Evans
School: Fanshawe
Program: Business - Marketing
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Golf
Hometown: Georgetown, Ont.
Evans made history on the links by becoming the first Fanshawe Falcons golfer to win an individual gold medal at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national championships. Evans carded rounds of 71, 76, 71 and 70 to secure the top spot on the leaderboard at the RedCrest Golf Club in King, Ont., earning All-Canadian honours in the process. Evans was one of only three golfers to break par on the final day, having not led in any of the first three rounds. The Falcons also had their best finish at the championships, earning a silver medal.
Marco Frangini-Andrade
School: Seneca
Program: General Arts
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Soccer
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Frangini-Andrade was a hero last week, scoring a pair of game winning goals to help the Seneca Sting advance to the OCAA championship. In a qualifying match on Oct. 16 against the Cambrian Shield, the third-year midfielder scored the lone goal in the 85th minute. Then in a quarter-final on Oct. 19, Frangini-Andrade scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 66th minute against the defending OCAA champion Conestoga Condors in a 2-0 victory. Frangini-Andrade will be seeking an elusive gold medal to go along with an OCAA silver and bronze.
Jessica Jagdeo
School: Sheridan
Program: Advertising & Marketing
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Soccer
Hometown: Malton, Ont.
In a thrilling OCAA quarter-final match, Jagdeo's exceptional talent was showcased by scoring a hat trick, leading the Sheridan Bruins to a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Durham Lords on Oct. 19. With five shot attempts and relentless energy, the third-year midfielder played the full 90 minutes, demonstrating incredible endurance and commitment to the cause. Jagdeo's outstanding performance was pivotal in advancing the Bruins to the OCAA championship where they will take on the defending champions and host Seneca Sting on Friday.
Peyton Jones
School: Durham
Program: Emergency Services Fundamentals
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Softball
Hometown: Oshawa, Ont.
Jones capped off an incredible debut season with an OCAA Championship MVP performance at provincials. In three games the OCAA Player of the Year went 6-for-11, including a double and triple, for a .545 batting average, scoring three runs and driving in two RBI. Jones also pitched a gem against St. Clair in the semi-final, allowing one earned run over seven innings in a 5-1 victory. The righty struck out eight and walked two. Jones was also named OCAA Rookie of the Year, an OCAA League First-Team All-Star and OCAA All-Rookie Team member.
Spencer Morin
School: St. Clair
Program: Power Engineering Technician
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Baseball
Hometown: LaSalle, Ont.
Morin was named OCAA Championship MVP as the St. Clair Saints won their fourth consecutive provincial title. With the gold medal game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Morin whacked a two-out triple driving in what turned out to be the winning run in a 4-2 win over Lambton. In three games at the championship Morin batted .778 going 7-for-9, including six hits in two victories against the Lions. The centerfielder also had a triple in a 10-9 win over the Centennial Colts. Overall Morgan contributed four RBI, four runs and two stolen bases.
Jordan Newlands
School: Humber
Program: Professional Golf Management
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Golf
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Newlands was the OCAA's top women's golfer at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national championships last week, winning a silver medal. Newlands fired rounds of 73, 77, 75 and 79 at the RedCrest Golf Club in King, Ont., to not only earn an individual national medal, but helped the Humber Hawks win team silver as well. Newlands is also recognized as an All-Canadian for placing in the top five individually. Since 2021, the Humber Hawks have had at least one of their women's golfers place in the top three at nationals.
