GEORGE BROWN 91, CANADORE 87

NORTH BAY, Ont. - The Canadore Panther's men's varsity basketball team lost to the George Brown Huskies today at the Education Centre gymnasium in the final Panther game of the weekend.

Canadore's top scorer was Tarez Hepburn with 18 points.

Coming off of a win against the Centennial Colts yesterday, the Panthers came out strong, knowing that they were playing the second place team in the East Division. They took the lead early on in the first half, and held that lead right through the game until the final two minutes of the fourth quarter, where they found themselves tied at a score of 79 all.

Santo Dak scored to put the Panthers up by two, and the Huskies answered with two foul shots to tie the game again. The Huskies took advantage of this opportunity to pull ahead, far enough to take the win even with a three-point buzzer beater by Panthers player Jevon Marshall at the end of the game.

Canadore head coach Stacy Gallagher was still impressed with his team. "We matched up well the whole game against the second place team in our division, who are also nationally ranked. Towards the end, they hit their shots and we missed, giving them the take-over lead and they were able to hold it to win the game."

Player of the game Dak is optimistic about his team. "We played the No. 2-ranked team and we expected to beat them. Our guys fought hard and we were winning for most of the game, but it's not easy to beat a No. 2-ranked team and they eventually came back and won a tough fought game by four points. Overall, I'm proud of all my guys and we have a couple more games that we need to win and hopefully we'll end up in the playoffs."
