DURHAM 95, SENECA 86

NORTH YORK, Ont. - Durham College got back in the OCAA men's basketball playoff race with a 95-86 win over Seneca College on Tuesday night.

Looking like a completely different team compared to their loss against Canadore on Saturday, the Lords played tough defence while making the most of their opportunities in the offensive zone to earn the nine-point victory over Seneca.

After leading by five points at the half, Durham shot out of the gate in the third quarter as they scored six points in the first 30 seconds. Durham would continue to dominate the quarter with great pressure on defence to take a commanding 73-55 lead with 10 minutes to go in the game.

The Lords would not relinquish their large advantage as they would hold off Seneca down the stretch to earn their eighth win of the season.

Ajahmo Clarke (Ajax, Ont.) put on an offensive clinic as he scored 39 points in the victory. Clarke is in the top five in OCAA points per game, rebounds, assists and steals this season.

Eric Smith (Ajax, Ont.) also had a big night for the Lords with 24 points, nine assists and six boards.

Calmar Morgan of Seneca was the Sting's offensive leader with 33 points in the losing effort.

Durham (8-10) is ahead of a cluster of teams for the final playoff position in the OCAA East region. Seneca (7-8), Loyalist (7-9) and St. Lawrence (7-9) all trail the Lords by two points and have multiple games in hand.
