TORONTO - Kennedy Williscroft (Vancouver, B.C.) of Humber Polytechnic is the 2024-25 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Volleyball Player of the Year.
The second-year setter is the cornerstone of running a Humber offence that averaged a league-best 17.4 points per set. Individually Williscroft led all OCAA student-athletes averaging 8.73 assists per set. Williscroft has become one of the most dominant players in the OCAA with a commitment to defence and a deadly serve from the baseline. Also named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian, Williscroft headlines the West Division First-Team All-Stars.
Akemi Boudreau (Beresford, N.B.) of Collège La Cité is the East Division Player of the Year. The fourth-year outside hitter led all OCAA players averaging 3.79 kills per set. Coming off a significant injury suffered last season, Boudreau came back stronger than before, becoming the keystone to La Cité's fast, dynamic offence. Also named a CCAA All-Canadian, Boudreau headlines the East Division First-Team All-Stars.
Geneva Huisman (Amhertsburg) of St. Clair College is the West Division Player of the Year. The third-year middle blocker was among the league leaders with 200 kills, 40 blocks and 257 total points. Also named a CCAA All-Canadian, Huisman is also a West Division First-Team All-Star.
Elizabeth McFarland (Courtice) of Durham College is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. The outside hitter was the Durham team leader in offence with 210 points, an average of 3.4 points per set. The East Division Rookie of the Year is also an East Division First-Team All-Star and headlines the East Division All-Rookie Team.
The West Division Rookie of the Year is Madison Welmers (Hamilton) of Conestoga College. The middle blocker played in all 18 regular season matches averaging 3.1 points per set, and was the Conestoga team leader with 36 blocks. Welmers headlines the West Division Second-Team All-Stars and West Division All-Rookie Team.
La Cité's David Mann is the OCAA Coach of the Year. The Coyotes had an impressive 13-5 regular season record in the East Division, more than doubling their win total from a season ago. Their third place standing earned the Coyotes the opportunity to host a home playoff match. The East Division Coach of the Year is also the nominee for CCAA Coach of the Year.
Humber's Chris Wilkins is the West Division Coach of the Year. The West Division champion Hawks ran the table to a perfect 18-0 regular season record for the second straight time with a revamped roster showcasing a dozen players making their Humber debut.
Conestoga's Bianca Marchetti (Richmond Hill) is the OCAA Scoring Champion. The third-year student-athlete averaged 4.7 points per set in 15 matches. The West Division Scoring Champion is a West Division Second-Team All-Star.
CL Viloria (Richmond) of Centennial College is the East Division Scoring Champion. The fourth-year outside hitter averaged 4.5 points per set in 17 matches.
