SHERIDAN 85, CANADORE 63

They may not have been the most aesthetically pleasing performances, but the Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (9-7, 2-0 OCAA) still did enough to open their OCAA West campaign with a pair of wins - 58-47 over Redeemer and 85-63 over Canadore - on back-to-back nights.

"We're really happy to get two wins," head coach Jim Flack said. "All we're trying to do is improve from week to week, practice to practice and game to game."

Against Canadore the contest was tight for the first 12 minutes until a 15-2 Sheridan run opened up a 39-27 lead, on their way to a 42-33 halftime edge.

In the second half the Double-Blue led by as many as 25 and were able to thwart any notions of a Canadore rally down the stretch.

Michael Selkridge scored a game-high 27 while Jahmal McQueen (19) and Andrew Stephenson (12) also hit double figures.

The club will now travel to Fanshawe on November 7 and Flack says the team will prepare by focusing on their own game.

"We just need to do what we do and not worry about what Fanshawe does," he said. "The whole idea is to try and peak in late February and March and not necessarily worry about wins or losses right now, but just get better every day."
