FANSHAWE 3, CONESTOGA 2

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday night, when they hosted the Conestoga Condors (0-4) from Kitchener, Ont. The Falcons won the game by a final score of 3-2.

Fanshawe was on the attack to start the game, with the ball in Conestoga's end for the majority of the half. At the 10-minute mark, Fanshawe's Cedric N'Guessan set up teammate Tom Galazka for a beautiful one timer in the box for the first goal of the game. Galazka wasn't done yet and in the 40th minute, struck again, curling one in past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.  Fanshawe led 10-3 in shots on goal and took a 2-0 lead into the half.

The Condors came into the second half with a lot more energy. In the 54th minute after a hand ball in Fanshawe's box, Conestoga's Danilo Richards scored on a penalty kick to close the gap to one.  Fanshawe had a number of great chances but couldn't put one away. In the 86th minute, Conestoga had a corner kick and capitalized with a great header from Yalcin Uyar to tie the game with just four minutes left.

Two minutes later, Fanshawe was on the break and Galazka squeezed his third of the game past the goalkeeper to retake the lead. Fanshawe outshot the Condors 18-7 in the game and held on to win 3-2.

The Falcons next game takes place on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. in Welland, Ont., versus the Niagara Knights (2-2).
