Humber Hawks Men's Indoor Soccer
The Humber Hawks won the 2011 OCAA men's indoor soccer title on Friday, defeating defending champion Sheridan 4-0 in the gold medal game. The Hawks dropped their first round robin game to Fleming (Peterborough) 3-1 on Thursday, but rallied with consecutive 3-0 victories over Fanshawe and George Brown to finish in first place in Pool A. Humber then defeated St. Lawrence (Kingston) 3-1 in the semifinal before shutting out Sheridan. A trio of Hawks earned individual honours, as Marcelo Cappozolo (Toronto) was named tournament MVP, Dave Ragno (Woodbridge, Ont.) was named the top goalkeeper while Yousof Mohammad was recognized as a championship all-star. Humber has won two of the last three OCAA men's indoor soccer championships.
Humber Hawks Women's Indoor Soccer
The Humber Hawks earned a perfect record at the 2011 OCAA women's indoor soccer championship. In Thursday's round robin, Humber defeated St. Lawrence (Kingston) 6-0, Fanshawe 2-1 and Seneca 2-0 to finish in first place in Pool B. In Friday's medal round, the Hawks won their semifinal against Fleming (Peterborough) 3-1 before edging Durham 2-1 in the gold medal game. Keyla Moreno (Toronto) was named tournament MVP, and Humber teammates Sonia Rocha (Mississauga, Ont.) and Hayley Green (Tottenham, Ont.) were recognized as championship all-stars. Humber has won two of the last three OCAA women's indoor soccer championships.

Team of the Week – Humber Hawks Men's Basketball
The Humber Hawks won their third straight OCAA men's basketball championship in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. on Saturday, defeating Sheridan 66-59 in the gold medal game. After winning the OCAA West title with a 17-1 record, Humber downed Seneca 65-51 in the OCAA quarter-finals before a narrow 62-57 win over Fanshawe in the semis. Michael Acheampong was named tournament MVP, and Humber teammate Jeremy Alleyne was honoured as tournament all-stars. For Humber, it is a fifth OCAA men's basketball title in seven seasons, becoming the first team to three-peat in 15 seasons. Humber will now represent OCAA at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) men's basketball championship, March 17-19 in Oshawa, Ont.
Team of the Week – Algonquin Thunder Women's Basketball
The Algonquin Thunder did something that hasn't been done since Oct. 31, 2007; defeat Sheridan in an OCAA women's basketball game. Algonquin ended Sheridan's 66-game win streak with a 59-46 win in the OCAA gold medal game, ending Sheridan's three-year championship reign in the process. Algonquin completes the perfect season with an overall record of 19-0, winning its first OCAA women's basketball championship since 1973. Jenny Allen was named tournament MVP, while Algonquin teammmates Sandre Bascoe and Trish Grey were honoured as tournament all-stars. Algonquin will now represent OCAA at the CCAA women's basketball championship, March 17-19 in Welland, Ont.

Team of the Week – Humber Hawks Men's Volleyball
The Humber Hawks successfully defended their OCAA men's volleyball championship at Seneca College in North York, Ont. on the weekend, defeating the upstart Redeemer Royals 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 26-24) in the tournament finale. The Hawks survived a scare in the quarter-final, rallying to defeat Nipissing 3-2 (21-25, 11-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-7) before coming back again in the semifinal to down host Seneca 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-23). Derek Quinn was named tournament MVP, while teammates Andre Brown and Brendan Wong were honoured as tournament all-stars. Humber had an overall record of 18-3 in regular and post-season matches in 2010-11. Humber will now represent OCAA at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) men's volleyball championship, March 10-12 in Sherbrooke, Que.
Team of the Week – Humber Hawks Women's Volleyball
The Humber Hawks became the first team in 15 years to win four consecutive OCAA women's volleyball championships, defeating arch rival Nipissing 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-21) in the finale at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ont. These teams have battled in the last six OCAA championship finals, with Humber earning a 5-1 record in these meetings. Humber defeated host Loyalist 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-14) in the quarter-final, and Fanshawe 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 25-20) in the semis. Landis Doyle was named tournament MVP, while teammates Laura Bye, Nina Carino and May Strutt were honoured as tournament all-stars. Seneca holds the OCAA record of seven straight championships from 1990 to 1996. Humber had an overall record of 24-1 in regular and post-season matches in 2010-11, with its only loss coming at Nipissing in the regular season. Humber will now represent OCAA at the CCAA women's volleyball championship, March 11-13 in Saint John, N.B.

Team of the Week – Fanshawe Falcons Men's Curling
Skip Chris Jay led Fanshawe College to the OCAA men's curling title this past long weekend, defeating two-time defending champion Fleming College (Peterborough) 4-2 in the final. Fanshawe earned a bye into the gold medal game with an 8-0 record in round robin play. Jay, Chris Cottrill and Colin Darling were all named tournament all-stars.
Team of the Week – Algonquin Thunder Women's Curling
Algonquin College is the new OCAA women's champions, defeating 2010 winner Mohawk College 6-5 in a closely contested final game. Algonquin defeated Mohawk 7-6 earlier in the competition to finish with an 8-0 round robin record. Algonquin was led by skip Karen Sagle. Algonquin second Celeste Butler-Rohland was named a tournament all-star.
Team of the Week – Seneca Sting Mixed Curling
Seneca College was rewarded for its return to OCAA curling after a one-year absence, winning the mixed championship 9-8 over St. Clair College in another tight final. Unlike their fellow OCAA champions, Seneca won gold the hard way, needing a 6-3 win over bronze medalist Algoma University in the semifinal to make it to the final. Seneca had a round robin record of 4-3. St. Clair had a perfect 7-0 record heading into the final, including a 7-5 win over Seneca. Matthew Lowe skipped the gold medal mixed team. Seneca lead Joanne McAndrew and vice Katie Lindsay along with Lowe were named tournament all-stars.
Team of the Week – Humber Hawks Badminton
The Humber Hawks successfully defended the OCAA overall team badminton title on the weekend, as three of their athletes advance to nationals. All Hawks competing at the OCAA badminton championships left host Fanshawe College with either a gold, silver or bronze medal in individual competition. Women's singles champion Tracy Wong and women's doubles champions Renee Yip and Alyssa Woon will represent OCAA at the upcoming nationals in Sackville, N.B.

Team of the Week – Durham Lords Men's Basketball
The Durham Lords (12-5) did something no other team has been able to do this OCAA men's basketball season, defeating No. 1 nationally-ranked Algonquin 84-76 at home on Friday. Durham's win ended Algonquin's bid for a perfect season (18-1) while sending a statement for the rest of the conference. Durham is headed to the OCAA playoffs, and is the host of next month's national championship tournament. Courtney Small (Oshawa, Ont.) came up big in the win, recording his 1,000th career point as he led all scorers with 21 on the night. Small scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half including three highlight reel slam-dunks, paving the way for the Lords comeback victory.
Team of the Week – Trent Excalibur Women's Volleyball
The Trent Excalibur (17-2) set an OCAA single-game record against their cross-town rival Fleming Knights (2-18) on Saturday, serving up 37 aces in a 3-0 (25-2, 25-13, 25-14) victory at home. The new aces record eclipses the old mark of 25 set by Algonquin during the 1999-2000 season. Six players contributed to the new record, including Kim Letros with a game-high 11 aces (two short of tying the OCAA individual single-game record), and Jessica Clancy with 10. Playoff-bound Trent needs a victory in its regular season finale on Wednesday at Durham to clinch a bye into the OCAA women's volleyball championship.

Team of the Week – Sheridan Bruins Men's Volleyball
The new No. 1 provinically-ranked Sheridan Bruins (11-3) have won nine straight regular season contests. No win was bigger than Sheridan's 3-1 (25-20, 30-28, 22-25, 25-20) triumph over former No. 1 Humber on Thursday. Sheridan followed this up with a 3-1 (25-16, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23) win at No. 5 Mohawk on Saturday. Both wins avenged losses earlier in the season. Fifth-year middle Andrew Henry (Brampton, Ont.) continues to lead the Bruins in a number of categories, including points (196), kills (146), service aces (7) and blocks (43). Sheridan is ranked No. 4 in Canada.
Team of the Week – Mohawk Mountaineers Women's Volleyball
The No. 3 provinically-ranked Mohawk Mountaineers (15-4) clinched a playoff spot in the OCAA West this week with wins over St. Clair, Conestoga and No. 9 Sheridan. In total Mohawk has won four straight matches, all in straight sets. Fourth-year player Jennifer Knowles (Burlington, Ont.) is the offensive leader on the Mountaineers averaging 3.83 points per set. She has accumulated 249 offensive points on 190 kills, 31 stuff blocks and 29 service aces. Knowles is among the OCAA West leaders in total points. Mohawk is ranked No. 12 nationally.

Team of the Week – Mohawk Mountaineers Men's Volleyball
The Mohawk Mountaineers (8-5) helped themselves this past week as they picked up three key wins as the OCAA schedule moves into February. The Hamilton squad started the week off with a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-13, 25-12) over the visiting Niagara Knights. The Mountaineers kept the winning going over the weekend with two straight set wins over the visiting Nipissing Lakers (25-15, 25-21, 25-22) and Canadore Panthers (25-17, 25-20, 25-15). The three wins moved the Mountaineers up the OCAA rankings to sit at number 5.
Team of the Week – Seneca Sting Women's Basketball
The Seneca Sting (11-2) won their seventh straight game this past week, with a 60-43 win over the Durham Lords. The last loss for the Sting came back on November 23 at the hands of the Lords. Second year forward, Ruth Holland led the way for the Sting posting 15 points, while Samantha Evans put up 12 points to go along with her six steals. The Sting sit in second in the OCAA Women's Basketball rankings.

Team of the Week – Algoma Thunderbirds Men's Basketball
The Algoma Thunderbirds picked up two road victories last weekend to open the 2011 portion of their OCAA regular season schedule. Algoma's 91-82 upset win over Niagara (8-4) on Friday and 77-51 victory over Redeemer (0-13) on Saturday lifted the Thunderbirds above the .500 mark at 6-5, and into the OCAA rankings at No. 8. Fourth-year forward Tylor Hynd (Vanderhoof, B.C.) scored a game-high 20 points against Niagara, and was one rebound shy of a double-double.
Team of the Week – Georgian Grizzlies Women's Basketball
The Georgian Grizzlies (9-3) have won eight straight regular season games. Their last loss came at Durham (6-3) on Nov. 17, a 72-63 defeat. The Grizzlies avenged that loss last Friday with a 73-52 win over Durham at home. Fourth-year forward Summer Bly (Barrie, Ont.) continues to excel, scoring 28 points while grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double. Fifth-year teammate Dana Marley (Innisfil, Ont.) also posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. Georgian is ranked No. 6 in the OCAA Top 10.

Team of the Week – Algonquin Thunder Men's Volleyball
The Algonquin Thunder picked up two key victories at home this past weekend, sweeping Boreal (25-20, 25-18, 25-16) and Cambrian (25-18, 25-11, 25-23) in straight sets. The win against Boreal was especially important since Algonquin lost to the Viperes earlier in the season. Both teams are now 7-4 and in the thick of the race for the playoffs in the OCAA East. Algonquin fourth-year outside player Alexandre Corsi Caya (Ottawa) had eight offensive points in both matches.
Team of the Week – Cambrian Golden Shield Women's Volleyball
The Cambrian Golden Shield earned two victories on their Ottawa road trip this weekend, improving to 11-1 on the OCAA regular season and improving their current win streak to seven games. Cambrian defeated Algonquin 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-21) and La Cite 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 27-25). Second-year player Courtney Craig (Carleton Place, Ont.) led the Golden Shield in offence in both games, with a total of 31 offensive points including 14 kills in both matches. Cambrian trails only Trent (11-0) in the OCAA East.

Team of the Week – Sheridan Bruins Men's Basketball
The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team won three games last week to conclude the first half of their regular season with a 7-2 record. Sheridan downed Niagara 92-73 at home last Tuesday before defeating St. Clair 100-77 and Lambton 77-65 on the road this past weekend. The Bruins have won six straight games after starting the season 1-2. Sheridan's second-year guard Khalid Abdel-Gabar (Mississauga, Ont.) is averaging 16.8 points per game.
Team of the Week – Loyalist Lancers Women's Volleyball
The Loyalist Lancers earned a pair of 3-1 victories at home this weekend to improve to 7-2 with one game remaining before the December break. Wins against La Cite (25-21, 25-17, 18-25, 25-20) on Friday and Algonquin (25-20, 25-9, 18-25, 25-16) on Saturday improved Loyalist's home record to 4-1. Loyalist libero Brittany Gray (Madoc, Ont.) had 23 digs against La Cite on Friday and 20 digs against Algonquin on Saturday. Loyalist visits Seneca on Wednesday.

Team of the Week – Durham Lords Men's Volleyball
The Durham Lords men's volleyball team went 3-0 this past week to improve to 7-0 on the season. Durham started the week with a big 3-1 (27-29, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22) road victory over the nationally-ranked Seneca Sting on Tuesday. They followed that up with a pair of weekend wins over Sudbury, Ont., opponents, as they swept Boreal (25-18, 25-20, 25-19) and Cambrian (25-19, 25-20, 25-20). Seneca (6-1) and Boreal (6-3) currently trail first-place Durham by two points in the OCAA East standings. Third-year player P.J. Cornelius (London, Ont.) earned 42 offensive points in the three victories.
Team of the Week – Algonquin Thunder Women's Basketball
The Algonquin Thunder women's basketball team finished the first half of their season with home wins over Fleming (Peterborough) and Durham. The Thunder are a perfect 8-0 in regular season play, with all eight wins coming in the month of November. Algonquin has outscored the competition by a combined 215 points to lead OCAA East teams. Second-year guard Dayna Dover (Ottawa) leads all Algonquin players averaging 17.7 points per game.

Team of the Week – St. Clair Saints Men's Volleyball
The St. Clair Saints men's volleyball team defeated the No. 5 provincially-ranked Mohawk 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-18) at home on Friday night. Leading the way for St. Clair was Gabriele Bruzzese (Windsor, Ont.) with 14 kills, one stuff block and two digs. Rookie middle Dave Roberts (Windsor, Ont.) had a big match as well with seven kills, two service aces, three stuff blocks and two digs. St. Clair improved to 2-3 on the season while Mohawk slipped to 3-3. Heading into the match, Mohawk was ranked 13th in Canada.
Team of the Week – Nipissing Lakers Women's Volleyball
The Nipissing Lakers women's volleyball team earned a pair of road victories this weekend. The Lakers defeated the Niagara 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-18) on Sunday. Lucia Demarco (North Bay, Ont.), Stefanie Hancock (Huntsville, Ont.) and Liza Grenon (Sudbury, Ont.) all combined for eight kills in the victory. Nipissing started its road trip with a 3-1 (25-18, 18-25, 17-25, 22-25) win over Sheridan on Saturday. Hancock went off for 24 points against the Bruins, contributing 19 kills, four aces and one block. Grenon earned 17 points on 15 kills and two blocks. Nipissing improved its record to 6-1 on the season and are ranked No. 3 provincially and No. 9 nationally.

Team of the Week – Fanshawe Falcons Cross Country
The Fanshawe Falcons cross country teams were golden at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) cross country running national championships in Fredericton on Saturday, winning both the men's and women's team titles. For the women, it was a successful title defence for the three-time consecutive national champions. For the men, it is a first-ever national title for an OCAA school. Individual bronze medalist Clint Smith (25:41) led the Fanshawe men, who along with Biemnet Mengis (16th, 27:12), Daniel Bright (19th, 27:21) and Josh Lumani (23rd, 27:40) made OCAA history. The women were led by individual bronze medalist Liliane Sparkes who finished neck-and-neck with teammate Deb Buhlers, both with recorded times of 18:13. Erika Houde-Pearce (19:06) and Melissa Linker (19:16) finished in eighth and 12th place, respectively.
Team of the Week – Humber Hawks Rugby
The Humber Hawks rugby teams also made history this past weekend, winning both the OCAA Division I men's and women's championships. The Hawks defeated Seneca College 15-7 on Saturday to win the inaugural OCAA women's championship. Lesley Swan (Mississauga, Ont.) scored a pair of tries for Humber and was named its “Man of the Match”. The men upset defending champion and previously undefeated Mohawk Mountaineers 25-13 on Sunday. Five different Hawks scored tries in the victory, including “Man of the Match” Phil Boone (Brampton, Ont.). Since it is the first OCAA women's championship, it is also the first time a school has won both men's and women's titles the same season. Humber has won the Division I men's title three of the past four seasons.

Team of the Week – Loyalist Lancers Men's Rugby
The Loyalist Lancers successfully defended its OCAA Division II men's rugby championship on home turf last Wednesday, defeating the Georgian Grizzlies 28-12. First-year player Luke Shillington (Belleville, Ont.) scored a pair of tries for Loyalist in the victory. Fellow first-year player and man of the match Bryan Cole (Trenton, Ont.) added a try, a convert and two penalty goals for a game-high 13 points, while second-year student-athlete Jesse Gunter (Trenton, Ont.) contributed a try. Loyalist finishes the season undefeated with five wins and two ties.
Team of the Week – Trent Excalibur Women's Volleyball
The Trent Excalibur improved their regular season record to 4-0 after straight-set home victories over La Cite and Algonquin. In Friday's 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 26-24) win over La Cite, Rebecca Van Staaduinen earned a game-high 11 points on 10 kills and one service ace. She also contributed four digs. In Saturday's 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-20) victory over Algonquin, Sara Rettie was the co-leader with 10 points, including five kills, four blocks, one ace as well as three digs.

Team of the Week – Fanshawe Falcons Cross Country
It was a Fanshawe College sweep at the OCAA cross country championships, held in London, Ont. on Saturday. The Falcons won the men's, women's and overall team banners for the second straight season. Four Fanshawe runners finished in the Top 5 of the women's 5 km race, including two-time gold medalist Liliane Sparkes (18:53) and bronze medal winner Erika Houde-Pearce (19:04). Four Fanshawe runners placed in the Top 10 of the men's 8 km race, including individual silver medalist Clint Smith (26:14). The Falcons prepare for the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) championship Nov. 12-13 in Fredericton.
Team of the Week – Humber Hawks Soccer
Another sweep took place on the pitch, as Humber College became the first school since 2001 to win both the OCAA men's and women's soccer championships. The Hawks came back for a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sheridan I.T. to win Humber's first men's championship in nine seasons. Humber third-year defender Marcelo Cappozolo (Toronto) took tournament most valuable player honours. The women's team didn't allow a single goal against in three post-season games, and in seven straight games overall, as the Hawks defeated defending champion Fanshawe 3-0 in the gold medal game. Humber midfielder Sonia Rocha (Mississauga, Ont.) was named tournament most valuable player. It marks Humber's second women's title in three seasons. Both Humber teams will play for the CCAA championship Nov. 10-13 in Edmonton.

Team of the Week – Boreal Viperes Men's Volleyball
The Boreal Viperes won a pair of five-set marathons over the weekend, jumping to a 2-0 start on the OCAA regular season after going 4-14 a year ago. Boreal defeated La Cite Collegiale 3-2 (25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 27-29, 15-9) on Saturday, and followed this up with a 3-2 (25-21, 25-23, 18-25, 15-25, 15-12) win over Algonquin College on Sunday. Alexandre Piquette (Sturgeon Falls, Ont.) had a combined 27 kills in the two victories.
Team of the Week – Conestoga Condors Women's Volleyball
The Conestoga Condors women's volleyball team won their first OCAA regular season games since the 1992-1993 season when they defeated Sault College in a pair of matches this weekend. The Condors, making their return to the OCAA circuit after a 17-year absence, defeated Sault 3-1 (14-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21) on Saturday and 3-0 (25-13, 26-24, 25-16) on Sunday. Amy Govan (Guelph, Ont.) registered a combined 19 kills in both wins.

Team of the Week – Humber Hawks Men's Golf
After a gold medal performance at the OCAA golf championship, Humber College won a second straight national title, and eighth title in 10 years at the PING/Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) national golf championship held at The Dunes at Kamloops in British Columbia. Humber finished with rounds of 286-282-280 for a three-day total of 848, thirty-eight strokes better than University of the Fraser Valley. Humber also made history by sweeping all three men's individual medals. National gold medalist David Lang posted rounds of 69-67-70 for a total of 206, six shots better than OCAA men's champion and national silver medalist Mark Hoffman (73-72-67). Humber's Adrian Cord completed the medal sweep with rounds of 75-71-67 for a total of 213, earning bronze.
Team of the Week – Durham Lords Women's Golf
Durham College won its first-ever national women's golf team title at the PING/CCAA national championship. The Durham women's duo of Tiffany Albath and OCAA women's champion Kayleigh Kraemer earned individual silver and bronze medalists, respectively. For Albath, it's a matching medal for the silver she won at the provincials. Albath's (76-81-76) three-day total of 233 was 11 strokes short of gold medalist Josee Doyon of Champlain College. Kraemer (78-80-77) finished two strokes behind her Durham college teammate. Albath and Kraemer combined for scores of 154-161-153 for a three-day Durham team total of 468, twenty-five strokes ahead of second place UBC-Okanagan.
Team of the Week – Durham Lords Women's Fastball
Durham College claimed gold at the OCAA women's fastball championship on Saturday afternoon with a 10-1 victory over the St. Clair Saints in the championship game. The championship marks the Lords 15th provincial title in women's fastball, the most of any college in the OCAA. It also completed a perfect OCAA season for Durham, as the Lords went 10-0 in the regular season and then 3-0 at the tournament. Durham knocked off two-time defending OCAA champion St. Clair twice, winning 12-2 on Day 1. Catcher Shannon Ferguson earned tournament MVP honours as she went 7-for-9 at the plate, scoring four runs and knocking in one run.

Team of the Week – Humber Hawks Men's Golf
The Humber Hawks successfully defended their OCAA men's golf team championship finishing 34 shots better than second-place Durham with a three-day total of 881. It is Humber's fifth straight men's team title, setting a new OCAA standard. Contributing to the title were golfers Mark Hoffman, Adrian Cord, Gregory Belsito, David Lang and Conor Hache.
Team of the Week – Seneca Sting Men's Golf
Seneca Sting rejoined OCAA men's golf this season and were rewarded with the men's Division II title with a three-day score of 1,001, three shots better than Fleming (Peterborough). Contributing to the championship were Nelson Lopez, Joseph Bisson, Mike Terrion, Graham Hines and Jack Kelly.
Team of the Week – Durham Lords Women's Golf
The German twosome of Tiffany Albath and Kayleigh Kraemer ended Humber's four year title reign, giving the Durham Lords their first OCAA women's golf team title since 2005. Kraemer won individual gold with rounds of 71-76-72 for a three-day total of 219, and Albath finished second with rounds of 80-74-72 for a total of 226. Combined, the Durham duo finished 81 strokes ahead of second-place Humber.

Team of the Week – Sheridan Bruins Men's Soccer
The Sheridan Bruins improved to 5-0-1 on the regular season with three straight victories at home this past week. Sheridan defeated Redeemer 3-1 on Tuesday, Lambton 6-0 on Saturday and St. Clair 2-0 on Sunday. Team of the Week – St. Lawrence (Kingston) Vikings Women's Rugby
The St. Lawrence (Kingston) Vikings played the Fleming (Lindsay) Auks in the first-ever OCAA regular season women's rugby game last Wednesday. St. Lawrence returned to Kingston, Ont. with a come-from-behind 21-7 victory in hand. Meghan Payne-Renaud (Kingston, Ont.) scored two tries, while Dana Darlington (Kingston, Ont.) scored another. St. Lawrence is one of three teams with a perfect 1-0 record to start the season.

Team of the Week – Seneca Sting Men's Soccer
The defending national champion Seneca Sting had a successful trip to the nation's capital this weekend, defeating two previously unbeaten teams. In a Friday night encounter with La Cite, fourth-year striker Kailen Murphy (Scarborough, Ont.) netted a pair of goals as Seneca won 3-2. The following day, Marco Roberti (Bolton, Ont.) and Matthew Phanouvong (Brampton, Ont.) earned key goals as Seneca edged No. 1 nationally-ranked Algonquin 2-1. With its two victories, Seneca (4-0-1) takes over top spot in the East Division.
Team of the Week – Algonquin Thunder Women's Soccer
The Algonquin Thunder improved to 4-0-0 with a key 2-0 victory at home Saturday against Seneca. First-year forward Sydney Midwood (Kingston, Ont.) and second-year midfielder Jaymie Baldree (Kingston, Ont.) both scored for the Thunder. The win over the previously undefeated Seneca puts Algonquin in first place in the East Division. Algonquin's last three wins have come against 2009 playoff teams.

Team of the Week – La Cite Coyotes Men's Soccer
Coming off a 3-8-1 record in 2009, the La Cite Coyotes have stormed out of the gate this men's soccer season with three straight wins, outscoring the competition 10-2. Wins over Cambrian, Durham and Fleming (Peterbourgh) have put the Coyotes in a first-place tie with arch rival Algonquin in the East Division. La Cite hosts Seneca and St. Lawrence (Kingston) this weekend.
Team of the Week – Niagara Knights Women's Soccer
Similar to the Coyotes, the Niagara Knights women's soccer team has a 3-0-0 record to begin the OCAA regular season after going 3-7-2 in 2009. Remarkably, all three victories (over Lambton, St. Clair and Redeemer) have been by 1-0 scores. First-year forward Erin Jennison (Grimsby, Ont.) leads the Knights with two goals.
