HUMBER 94, GEORGIAN 80

ETOBICOKE, Ont. - Entering their OCAA men's basketball playoff crossover as the sixth seed in the East Division, the Georgian Grizzlies drew the toughest match-up possible facing the West's second-seeded Humber Hawks.

The Grizzlies played the underdog role perfectly to start as they surprised the Hawks with their speed and their power down low led by rookie Teq Zwarych.

Zwarych, a native of Whitby, Ont., had a first half to remember as he scored 20 points and was particularly strong grabbing many of his team-high 12 rebounds in the game's first two quarters.

Georgian trailed by just five points at halftime and continued their strong play in the third quarter and tied the game 55-55 halfway through the third quarter.

As soon as the Grizzlies tied it, the veteran Hawks team regrouped and took over going on a 16-2 run to end the third quarter and never looked back leading to a 93-80 final.

Georgian's Mark Brown (Toronto) led the Grizzlies with 25 points in the contest while Justin Mitchell (Newmarket, Ont.) had 19 points and five assists.

For the Grizzlies their season comes to an end but not without a great battle to finish it. The Hawks will move on to the OCAA Men's Basketball Championship which take place Feb. 27-March 1 at Sheridan College in Brampton, Ont.
