ALGONQUIN 76, ST. LAWRENCE (K) 46

OTTAWA - The St. Lawrence College men's basketball team was in tough against the perfect 15-0 Algonquin College Thunder on Friday.

The Vikings entered the game with a 2-2 record through the month of January, but knew they were going to have to play their best game of the year to pull of the upset victory.

"We got off to a great start, defending and competing really hard in the first half," said Vikings assistant coach Kevin Smart.

But the Vikings would cool off in the second half, and were unable to capitalize offensively.

"Things definitely got frustrating in the second, with our inability to capitalize offensively," Smart added.

The Thunder would stay on the gas peddle through the half, resulting in the lopsided 76-46 Algonquin victory.

The Vikings will readjust and get ready for a crucial game against the La Cité Collégiale Coyotes tomorrow (Saturday) in Ottawa at 1 p.m. With a victory over the Coyotes, SLC can jump into a four-way tie for fifth place in the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association East Division. The Vikings are currently sitting in a tie for ninth with La Cité.
