NORTH YORK, Ont. – In one of the most entertaining games of the OCAA men's volleyball season to date, Durham College fell to the Seneca Sting 3-2 in North York.
After going down 2-1 after three sets, Durham bounced back with a 25-23 win over Seneca to push the game to a final set. In the fifth and deciding frame, Durham could not overcome an early 7-1 deficit as Seneca won by a score of 15-9.
Durham power hitters PJ Cornelius and Steve Clarey led the Lords in scoring with 20 and 16 points respectively.
Dave McMann finished the night with ten points, two of which were blocks. McMann is now three blocks shy of matching the OCAA record for blocks in a single season.
Peter Christian and Predrag Gajic had 16 points apiece for Seneca.
The Sting move two points behind Algonquin for first place in the OCAA east region as they improve to 14-2. Durham remains in third place with a 12-5 record.
Fourth place Loyalist College (11-4) will head to Oshawa next Tuesday for the Lords final regular season home game. Game time for senior's night is 8 p.m.
